BEXLEY HEATH

Following on from our Colchester debut for Aldi on 7th June Serendipity were asked by Area Manager Steve Huetson (pictured below), to play at the opening of his new store in Bexley Heath. It was impossible to park right outside the front of the store so we had to utilise some big trolleys to wheel all the gear through the store to the front.

This time we played through the afternoon outside the front of the store and opposite the bus stop. The day came in the middle of many rainy ones and at one point we did have a few spots of rain land on our equipment. We prayed like mad and that was all there was all day and fortunately we did not have to retreat inside the store.

We were well looked after and brought sandwiches and drinks throughout the day, as well as being supplied a copious amount of fruit. In the end we played for 5 hours more or less non-stop. Favourite songs seem to be the Serendipity version of a well known Status Quo number called 'Shopping all over the World' and the Aldi theme song by the same band - 'Whatever you Want'.

One of the funniest parts of the day was seeing a pensioner (who has appeared on the X-Factor), dancing energetically at the bus stop, including lying on his back and kicking his legs in the air, losing all his small change in the process. He was great sport and brought much amusement to everyone waiting for their bus. Area Manager Steve was obviously very happy with our contribution to the day : -

"Absolutely brilliant. The highlight of the day". Steve Huetson, Area Manager, Aldi Stores Ltd.
