COLEAST GRINSTEAD

East Grinstead was the location of the Aldi Store opening on 20 May 2010. The sun shone on everyone early morning, including a lady who had been popping back to the store from 3am to ensure she was at the front of the queue. Councilor Stephen Barnett became Mayor on 10th May and one of his first duties was to declare the new store open for business to the town.

Serendipity played to entertain the queuing customers from 7.30 am and played for 6 hours, with breaks, till 1.30am. At 9am there was an estimated 220 people lined up in anticipation of the opening and also looking forward to getting their hands on a 'Golden Ticket'. First price was a 26" HD Ready LCD TV so it was definitely worth the wait for one lucky customer. Others received gifts as varied as a £50 shopping voucher, a Digital Photo Frame, a bottle of Champagne and a Sat Nav.
