HATFIELD
Aldi Hatfield was the first store to be opened in 2008 on 20 March. It was Area Manager, Karen Walker's 4th store and a welcome move closer to home for Jenson, the new store manager, who was previously in charge of Biggleswade.
The Deputy Mayor of Hatfield and Welling, Councilor Mick Long, officially cut the ribbon at 9am and presented Denise from Welling Garden City with a certificate for being the first customer. She actually thought the store opened at 8am! But it was worth the wait for her. During the day the store had a visit from local primary school - Howe Dell and Melanie Menhams class enjoyed an open air music lesson. Steve Cook from Hert Beat fm Radio also turned up to do a few live interviews and song requests. Lyn also played her sax live on the radio.
