LOWESTOFT (Millennium Way)

The all brand new Aldi store in Lowestoft opened to the public on Thursday 29 January 2009. It replaced the old store in the town which was looking a bit 'tired' and was a 'Golden Ticket' event - with the first 100 customers receiving a golden ticket, an Aldi goody bag and the chance to win one of the 3 top prizes of a 32" TV, a Sat Nav and a luxury hamper. Bob Blizzard, MP for Waveney, officially opened the store at 8.55am but some people actually queued from 5am! Serendipity played from 7.30 to entertain the crowd, which extended well beyond the length of the store and was estimated at around 200 people. In a first, they also played some acoustic songs to entertain customers inside the store. Woody from Pleasurewood Hills was also on hand to help with the party.
